Our range of high-power single emitter multimode laser diodes from SemiNex Corporation and LDX Optronics includes devices from 1310nm to 1940nm.
LDX Optronics is focused on broad stripe multimode laser diodes with a strong offering in the more “esoteric” wavelengths, those outside of the more common 808nm, 980nm etc. LDX have an emphasis on red and IR wavelengths and offers the widest range in the industry, from 622nm to 1900nm. Many of the esoteric wavelengths are less robust than the more common wavelengths and are much more heat sensitive, making heat management of these devices is critical for long-life. Skills from many years of experience are employed in the packaging of the LDX lasers which can be specified in a variety of open-heatsink and hermetically-sealed packages with options for monitor photodiode, fast-axis collimation, cooling, fibre connectors (SMA) and integrated optical fibres.
SemiNex Corporation lasers use high precision indium phosphide semiconductor materials to convert electrical energy directly and efficiently into coherent optical energy. SemiNex’s proprietary material structure uses a non-conventional doping profile and a unique application of quantum physics that provide superior performance in the areas of electrical and thermal efficiency
Electrical efficiency gains are achieved by ensuring less current leakage around the semiconductor quantum wells where electron energy is converted to photonic energy. Higher electrical efficiency, in turn, reduces the heat buildup caused by lost electrons. In addition, the unique design of SemiNex lasers minimises thermal resistance; thus, the heat generated from the diode is easier to dissipate whilst lower heat generation significantly raises the optical power at which the laser can operate. The combination of higher electrical and thermal efficiency allows SemiNex lasers to achieve power levels which exceed current industry performance by 2 to 6 times.
Standard lasers offered by SemiNex operate at wavelengths between 1310nm and 1940nm and are well suited for several applications, including:
| Wavelength | Market | Primary Uses | SemiNex Benefit |
| 1310nm - 1550nm | Aesthetic medical | Wrinkle reduction Scar removal |
Precise treatment wavelength Cost and size reduction |
| 1400nm - 1600nm+ | Eye-safe military | Targeting & Proximity fusing Guidance |
Increased range Reduced power and size |
| 1500nm - 1600nm | Freepace communications | Enterprise datacomms | Increased tranmisssion distance Reduced cost |
