RBOtO Photonics' RedBullet (RB) series are a new generation of ultra-compact Czerny-Turner cavity spectrometers featuring a single concave mirror in place of separate collimator and focussing mirror components.

This innovative arrangement provides the sensitivity and resolution benefits of a Czerny-Turner cavity design in an extremely compact form-factor with an overall size (including connectors and control boards) of only 51.4mm x 36.4mm x 29mm (~54cm³ ).

Despite its compact form-factor SilverBullet features an extremely rigid optical bench ensuring a platform with excellent thermal, humidity, shock and vibration stability.

RedBullet is currently available with a choice of two linear InGaAs sensors - 128-pixel (RB4524) and 256-pixel (RB4564). In 2024 OtO Photonics will be releasing a thermoelectrically cooled model, GoldenBullet, which will be the world's smallest TE-cooled NIR spectrometer.

All Bullet-series micro spectrometers feature 8-bit 8051 microcontrollers providing high optical resolution and sensitivity along with short integration time, fast readout speed, high accuracy trigger timing and low power consumption.

The two RedBullet models can be specified with a full spectral range of 900nm to 1700nm using a 253.53 grooves/mm grating blazed at 1300nm. This configuration gives FWHM Resolution from 7nm to 30 nm, depending on the choice of sensor and slit width.

The 256-pixel RB4564 is also offered with a 360g/mm, 1000nm grating giving a reduced spectral range of 900-1400nm and FWHM resolution of 6.1nm (typical) with 25µm slit width. Full details are shown below:-

Over time we expect additional grating and slit width options to become available with application-specific spectral range, sensitivity and resolution characteristics. Please feel free to discuss your application's needs to see if we can match to existing configurations or develop an optimised solution.

Power and communication with RB-Series spectrometers is via high-speed micro-USB with the addition of 6 user-programmable digital I/Os.

The inclusion of OtO's SpectraSmart software ensures that RedBullet users can be up-and-running within minutes whilst the availability of a Software Development Kit for Windows and example code for Linux facilitates integration into a broad range of OEM instruments.
