Broadcom's crosstalk application note provides a detailed explanation of crosstalk in the AFBR-S50 series of sensors, explains when compensation for crosstalk is likely to be necessary, and describes the calibration steps for this process of compensation.
Crosstalk can be either of an electrical or optical nature, with multiple root causes that combine to form the overall crosstalk. The main causes are; improper buffering of the supplies in a PCB design; long leads to the sensor pins; cover materials in the optical path of the sensor; and usage of narrow mechanical apertures when embedding the sensor in a system.
