Edison Opto's EDTOF-Series direct Time-of-Flight (d-ToF) sensors are fully integrated Class 1 laser eye safety modules incorporating a 940nm VCSEL laser source; advanced Single Photon Avalanche Diode (SPAD) array ToF sensor architecture; and signal processing.
The high performance EDTOF-series are high precision distance sensing modules available with package sizes of 3.6 x 2.2 x 1.0 mm3 (EDTOF3622) and 4.4 x 2.4 x 1.0 mm3 (EDTOF4424), offering drop-in alternatives to dToF sensors manufactured by ams-OSRAM and ST Microelectronics.
With field-of-views of 25° and 24° respectively and operating ranges of 200mm to 5m these sensors offer multi-object detection and ranging with outstanding accuracy and the ultra-low power consumption required by many applications.
Edison d-ToF modules are optimised for applications requiring ultra-compact packaging and high performance with attractive pricing, including:-
- IoT (user and object detection)
- Laptop user proximity sensing
- Collision avoidance (Robotics, AGV & AMR)
- Video focus tracking

Communication with the EDTOF series is achieved via the appropriate driver (SDK) using the I²C protocol. The devices support 7-bit chip addressing and both standard and full-speed clock frequency modes. Read and Write transactions comply with the standard I²C protocol.
All operations can be controlled by the command register and the simple command structure simplifies configuration of the operation settings and latching of the output data from the Sensor.
