PolarView ND

We supply liquid crystal based variable Neutral Density Filters from LC-Tec.

Although all LCT's Fast Optical Shutter (FOS) and PolarSpeed® models allow gray-level operation, the innovative and patented PolarView®-ND(212)-AR technology is specifically designed for operation as a variable Neutral Density (ND) filter.

LCT's PolarView®-ND(212)-AR replaces multiple filters with a single device which can be switched between F2 and F12 and is designed for flat spectral response and low angular dependence. As a result PolarView® filters offer uniquely uniform angular transmittance properties together with small color shift and are ideal for professional still and movie cameras as well as many commercial and industrial applications.

The optical density of the PolarView®-ND filter is controlled electronically without any moving parts. The device is completely analog and fast switching from one setting to another enables instant adjustment in response to changing light conditions.

The standard PolarView®-ND(212)-AR is designed to match full frame digital SLR image senors with an outline of 44.0x 33.6mm² and a 38.0 x 26.0mm² switching area. Earlier versions with outlines of 40 x 30mm² and 2" x 2" have been discontinued although these, and other sizes, can be produced by special order.

Under development

Tuneable and Switchable colour filters

LC-Tec has demonstrated tuneable and switchable colour filter (TCF/SCF) technologies using liquid crystal cells. These structures enable fast electronic control of the passband over the full visible spectrum (and potentially also in the NIR region) or switching between a well-defined colour passband and broadband white transmission.

LC-Tec is seeking potential users of these technologies who would be interested in working with LCT to define target specifications and contribute to development financing.
