We offer Silicon Photomultipliers (SiPMs) manufactured by Broadcom's Industrial Fiber Optic Division (IFPD) using leading edge wafer fabrication and surface mount packaging.
SiPMs are rapidly replacing conventional vacuum photomultiplier tubes (PMTs), silicon avalanche photodiodes (APDs) and silicon photodiodes in a wide range of high speed and low light sensing applications due to a combination of exciting features:-
- Low breakdown voltage
- Tightly controlled breakdown voltage
- High Gain & SNR
- Immunity to magnetic fields
- Low temperature dependence of breakdown voltage
- MRI compatible packaging
- Small size whilst mechanically and optically robust with no damage from high-light levels
- Multi-channel arrays can be made with fine pitch resolutions not possible in vacuum PMTs
In October 2019 Broadcom purchased the SiPM assets of KETEK GmbH. and we now support the sales of Broadcom's own products alongside those purchased from KETEK.
With the release in late 2022 of Broadcom's "NUV-MT" (Metal-filled Trench) technology this is now the recommended solution for all new designs as well as re-designs of existing systems. NUV-MT offers significant advantages of both the KETEK technology and Broadcom's own NUV-HD with high Photon Detection Efficiency, low Dark Count Rate and excellent timing performance.

Broadcom's NUV-MT technology is available as 4mm and 6mm surface mount components along with three arrays - 2x2 and 4x4 array of 4mm pitch SiPMs and a 2x1 6mm pitch configuration.
