FiboGAIN EDFAFiboGAIN Erbium Doped Fibre Amplifiers from Fibotec can be supplied with 980nm or 1480nm pump diodes or as 980/1480nm co-pumped designs and are intended for use in the C- and L-Bands of the ITU channel grid.

 

EDFAs typically operate in saturation and the average power of a signal determines the average gain. Bit to bit dynamics, or interchannel crosstalk in DWDM-systems, do not change the dynamics of an EDFA. This also allows for amplification of other channel-bundles within the entire emission wavelength range of erbium superimposing simple single-channel links. The average output power in both cases is determined by the saturation power of the specific EDFA design.

 

The majority of EDFAs are used in fibreoptic links although other applications exist - mainly in fibreoptic test & measurement but also in eyesafe freespace measurement installations.

 

FiboGAIN EDFAs are available in benchtop format with integrated power supplies and digital display or as compact OEM modules for integration into the customer’s system.
