SensL’s MatrixB modules combine 12x12 pixel arrays incorporating crosswire readout with electronics to provide compact and highly robust modular systems designed for medical imaging applications using L(Y)SO scintillator arrays.
The MatrixB module is available with SensL's B-series SiPMs.
The MatrixB requires low power and offers excellent spatial segmentation and uniformity. It addresses the need for high resolution imagers for small animal, pre-clinical and mammography PET. The MatrixB system architecture is modular, in addition to the detector head it comprises:-
Front-end Electronics — Biases the SiPMs and amplifies their signals. Candidate signals are flagged through a programmable threshold discriminator and are digitised, time stamped, buffered and subsequently read out to the Matrix-EVB-16 communications board through a high speed serial interface.
SensL offer two versions of the MatrixB front-end electronics module. The MatrixB-30035-144C-SCB-OEM is designed for use with slower scintillators such as BGO and is optimised only for Energy Resolution (ER) whilst the MatrixB-30035-144C-FCB-OEM is designed for use with LYSO and is optimised for both ER and Coincidence Resolving Time (CRT).
Coincidence Board — the Matrix-EVB-16 provides all of the necessary control for up to 16 MatrixB modules. It provides a common clock, retrieves and buffers event data and interfaces with the host computer through a high speed USB connection. By integrating multiple detector heads the Matrix9 can perform temporal coincidence analysis, reducing data rates to the host system.
