Opto Diode Corporation was established in 1981 as an independent, privately held corporation whose mission is to supply the highest power infrared LEDs available in the world. ODC’s state-of-the-art high power NIR LEDs are used in photo-controls, optical encoders, night vision systems and auto-focusing cameras — to name only a few. Devices are available for aerospace and neutron radiation hard systems and ODC have supplied LEDs for use on the Space Shuttle & satellites. In addition to developing their own NIR LEDs in the 740 nm to 940 nm region ODC also have extensive capabilities in the area of high power multi-wavelength arrays. The most recent addition to ODC’s LED product range is their “Metal Reflector Array” (MRA) technology which combines low thermal resistance substrates with high optical efficiency beam-shaping reflectors. A further development of ODC’s GaAlAs technology has been their range of photodetectors which are spectrally matched to their 880 nm LEDs. Effectively solar-blind, these devices enable users to achieve high signal-to-background without additional optical filtering. For the many applications which do not use 880 nm light ODC have invested heavily in clean room and wafer fabrication facilities at their Newbury Park HQ and now produce a range of silicon photodiodes. ODC’s quality system caters for the full range of MIL standard procedures and they are actively working towards ISO qualification. A large proportion of ODC’s business is derived from customised versions of their products so please contact AP Technologies to discuss your requirements if you can’t find what you’re looking for.
